Job Description

We are looking for a Nanny Housekeeper for a 4-person family in Sevenoaks where both parents work full-time in demanding, senior positions. Our client is looking for someone to work with them to ensure their children and home are very well cared for.


Both parents work from home, particularly whilst the pandemic continues.

Both children (girl 9 and boy 6) are in primary school and so they require an experienced person to do school drop offs and pick-ups, help with homework, transport to activities and provide housekeeping services.

Example of house-keeping duties; high standard of cleaning, making beds, taking in deliveries,
wardrobe management, ensuring the fridge is cleaned and organised, overseeing maintenance

Example of nanny duties: school drop-offs/ pick-ups, managing children’s morning and evening
routine, preparing and cooking nutritious meals, overseeing homework, transporting to
extracurricular activities.

Hours of work:

Monday to Friday, 3pm – 6pm, plus a further 5 hours per week for Housekeeping duties (days/hours for the Housekeeping to be negotiated). Total of 20 hours per week.

Salary: £15 – £16 gross per hour depending on the candidate.

Appraisal meetings: To be held on quarterly basis. It is expected that a high level of communication
will be maintained between you and your employer on a daily basis.

Salary Review: 12 months after start date, yearly thereafter.

Pets in household: None.

Interview process: Two face to face interviews.

Ultimately, you’ll reassure the parents that, even when they are not around, their children remain in a
safe and pleasant environment.

 Organise creative activities and educational games (e.g. drawing, crafting and puppet games)
 Prepare and provide children’s meals
 Help children wash up and take baths
 Reinforce and model appropriate social behaviours, such as being respectful to each other
and helping out with chores
 Transport children to and from school and extracurricular activities
 Tidy up play areas and children’s rooms
 Assist with homework
 Ensure children’s safety during indoors and outdoors activities
 Take care of children in case of injury or illness
 Perform housekeeping tasks as needed
 Work with parents to ensure children’s growth and social development
 Maintain written notes of children’s meals, activities and any other pertinent information
 Work with parents to maintain up to date family calendar

To be considered for this role:
 You have previous successful experience as a Nanny/housekeeper
 You have genuine pride in your work; you are proactive, organised and inspire confidence in

 You are respectful and open minded
 Excellent understanding of child development in different age stages
 An innate ability to come up with creative ideas to educate and engage children
 Multitasking skills
 A pleasant and patient personality
 Professional, confident and discreet in your working style
 A clean driving licence. You must be comfortable and competent with driving the family
 Educated to a good level; further training in child development is a distinct advantage.

As with all Mum’s The Word Kent placements, applicants will need at least 2 years’ professional experience, Enhanced DBS check, Paediatric First Aid and at least two checkable references or contact details of at least two referees.
